I had the privilege of discussing a vital topic in the Seanad – the Electoral Amendment and Voting at 16 Bill 2021.
This bill aims to lower the voting age to 16 for European Parliament and local government elections.
It was an enlightening conversation, especially considering that earlier in the day, I met with the Transition Year class at Cross and Passion College, Kilcullen County Kildare.
One common thread was the desire for engagement.
Young people want their voices heard, and they want to be part of the political process.
